Our Vision

To be a dynamic information centre for intellectual inquiry through provision of excellent library services that will enable patrons to acquire knowledge and skills to meet challenges of a changing society.

Our Mission

The mission of the Bondolfi Teachers’ College Library is to serve the teaching, learning and research needs of the academic community through the provision of a comprehensive and current collection of relevant materials in different formats selected in compliance with basic written selection principles, and to provide maximum accessibility of such materials.

The library’s mission extends to providing access to dynamic information beyond the library’s collection through resource sharing that will encourage knowledge growth.

  • Understand and fulfill the teaching, learning and research needs of the academic community.
  • Create an environment that is conducive for study, teaching, and research and development.
  • Acquire and organise information in all formats (i.e digital, print and graphic) to ensure effective information retrieval.
  • Collaborate with all college departments and other academic libraries in order to enrich the teaching, academic and research community.
  • Promote the maximum utilisation of information resources that will foster literacy and lifelong learning.
  • Assist users in gaining skills and self-reliance in their use of resources.

Membership

To get enrolled as a member, an individual shall complete the membership application form and return it to the librarian for administrative purposes. The following are entitled to enrol themselves as members :

  1. Students
  2. Lecturers
  3. Non-lecturing staff

The Bondolfi Teachers’ College Library collection supports the college’s academic programme as well as a variety of information needs of its students and staff members. The library has 23 000 volumes in print format. The library’s print collections are housed at the campus.

All library patrons, including students and staff are expected to comply with the library’s policies.

Library Services

The loan period for books on Open Shelf is as follows :

  • Staff- 14 days
  • Students- 4 days 

The loan period for books on Reserve is a follows :

  • Staff- 3 days
  • Students- Overnight

All patrons must present a valid Bondolfi Teachers’ College ID card in order to check out materials

Reference books, journals, syllabuses, magazines and newspapers do not circulate and may not be removed from the library

Library materials shall not be issued to patrons with outstanding fines

Materials borrowed from the library shall be returned to the library during library opening hours. Books from the Reserve section shall be returned to the library before 10 am.

Books may be renewed twice unless another borrower has requested them.

 

  • All bonafide library patrons are allowed to use computers for research. A copy of the research policy shall be attached on all PCs. During orientation patrons are informed of this policy’s guidelines.
  • Access to the Internet and e-resources via PC’s installed in the library or wireless network
  • Online Public Access Catalogue

The Bondolfi Teachers’ College Library has a dedicated team of library professionals who support teaching and learning to its academic community. The library staff provides research support and access to a wide variety of information sources. Consequenlty, Information literacy training is conducted to all library patrons on specified periods. This is done to impart skills on web searching, establishing authenticity and reliability of needed information and evaluation.
