534 teachers graduate from Bondolfi Teachers’ College

On October 18, 2023, at the 58th Graduation and Prize Giving Ceremony held at Bondolfi Teachers College, Deputy Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science, and Technology Development, Hon Semelisizwe Sibanda, awarded caps to 534 graduates. These graduates had completed a Diploma in Education program, with 349 of them specializing in the General Course and 185 in Early Childhood Development. Notably, the General Course teachers achieved an impressive pass rate of 99.72%, while Early Childhood Development teachers secured a perfect 100% pass rate.

During this ceremony, Tazvitya Darlington was recognized as the best overall candidate of 2023, earning distinctions in Teaching Practice, TECD, Music, and PSA. Other outstanding students in various fields also received awards for their exceptional performance.

The college’s textile department is involved in the production of tracksuits, event decorations, and all sports apparel for the institution, and it has plans to introduce sanitary wear production soon. The Music department, comprising both students and staff, actively composes songs and performs at graduation events and other college activities, offering entertainment.

Some graduates from the Sports Department have established themselves as self-employed umpires and referees in various sporting domains. Additionally, the Early Childhood Development Department at the college contributes to the community by producing infant toys utilized in local schools.

In his report, Dr. B. Berejena, the Principal of Bondolfi Teachers College, congratulated the graduates and urged them to embrace innovation to stay current with advancements in education. He also emphasized the importance of using technology as a tool to enhance teaching methods and encouraged graduates to explore new teaching strategies.

Vicar General Very Rev. Fr. Samson Mutsvanga, the Education Secretary of Masvingo Diocese, encouraged the graduates to express gratitude to God for guiding them to this milestone. He further inspired them to be unique educators, instilling gospel values, which are central to the Catholic college’s mission.Fr. Mutsvanga urged the graduates to serve as role models and exemplify professionalism in their teaching careers, emphasizing that their education had equipped them to educate, mold, and guide society in meaningful ways.

The Deputy Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science, and Technology Development, Hon Semelisizwe Sibanda, underlined the central theme of the graduation ceremony, which revolved around ‘Curriculum Transformation in Education for Innovation, Industrialization, and Modernization.’ He highlighted that this theme aligns with the national vision of achieving an industrialized and modernized economy. Additionally, he emphasized the significance of Heritage-based Education 5.0 as the pathway to achieving innovation, industrialization, and modernization in education.
